I am a retired college professor (botanist) who likes to travel. Several years ago my husband and I were planning a trip to Italy and our children suggested we write a blog about our trip so they could keep up with our travels. That's when I set up a blog, Gadding About With Grandpat. I came to enjoy blogging and I continued after our trip. I noticed that many of my blogs involved food and cooking, so a friend suggested I write a blog about learning to cook. Learning to cook was one of my goals in retirement.  Now I did know how to cook just regular food like meat and potatoes, but I am now learning to make more sophisticated dishes or I’m just blogging about interesting food. That's how my blog Retired Botanist Learns To Cook came to be. These days I seem to be cooking more and gadding about less. Blogging has become a hobby in retirement.
